I'm Marcella Rose

"My art reflects and radiates my compassion for and connectedness to the divine essence within each and every form of life. I inhale inspiration, channeled through me by the Creator Herself, as the impetus within all my art. Wildlife, feminine shapes and elemental forms of energy expressed in rich layers of fluid mediums excite, surprise and comfort me. Through intuitive gestural strokes, I strive to emanate this sacred vibration — a vibration that viewers, through their own creative fire, innately react to and are warmed and inspired.”

‘Herstory’ is intended to raise awareness of our collective ancient wisdom. This series links sacred, mythical legends with real-life indigenous feminine peacemakers and storytellers around the world, sharing the message of peace and unity. I believe we are here not by chance; we are all called to be inspired, to live in harmony and to experience abundance.

During the past four decades, I experienced various turning points as I evolved Spiritually. Diving unpretentiously into new realms became a passion that ultimately linked me to my own innate heritage. My fascination with prehistory and spiritual traditions of indigenous nations has awakened my understanding of who I am.

Ultimately, all paths return to the beginning, the center, the spiral that allows me to keep birthing over and over again, with new light. My shift from commercial to fine art began in the 191os with a painting series of ‘Eternal Dance’, It later evolved with my unconditional love for ‘Animals Magnificent’ and, more recently, 'Essence of Grace’. Today, as I am both a phoenix and a water sign, I merge into my Scandanavian heritage….

Artist Statement

We are all called to learn, be inspired, and honor all walks of life, to feel harmony, and experience beauty.

We have a plethora of history that has not yet been tapped into, and we have discovered the oldest human remains in North America. It took a while to realize this, and there may be many older clans which haven’t been unearthed, but what we have is so valuable, so rich in antiquity. This I believe is Sacred.

Our responsibility as a community, is to respect this, honor the diversity, and the uniqueness of all who have walked before us, with us, today and in the future.

I feel the passion, beauty, and essence of ‘Spirit Rising’. She manifested through me, my hands, as conduit. Anyone who knows anything about creative process understands the birthing of your own soul, over and over. I gave birth to this monument who is here to reflect the undeniable essence within every living being. ‘Spirit Rising’ stands to inspire each of us and remind us of our connectedness to harmony when we honor paths of wisdom – antiquity.

With gratitude, I dedicate Spirit’s and my soul’s creation, ‘Spirit Rising’ to this entire community. She like a child, or land, cannot be owned. She is a gift to all of us. She is a vibration, an essence very much alive.

She came through me as an artist, and She will have many caretakers. She is the Free Spirit who resides in the hearts and minds of All who honor and respect her spirit, and radiate instinctual awareness, peace, non dominance, kindness, sustainability, and community cooperation.

Biography:

Marcella Rose traces her artistic roots and love for the natural world back to her formative years growing up on a western Minnesota farm. Following graduation from Minnesota State, Moorhead, Marcella’s art career carried her to Phoenix, Kansas City and Spokane, designing, sculpting and illustrating for major licensing companies. Acting upon a longstanding desire to focus on her core passion for the fine arts, she then moved to Santa Fe. More recently, she returned to Minnesota and now resides on Prairie Lake, just north of Pelican Rapids. Marcella’s fine art encompasses sculpture, jewelry design and oil painting. Feminine figures and animals have long been a central focus of her work.

Marcella currently operates Marcella Rose Studio & Gallery in Pelican Rapids, offering Inspirational art — including the acclaimed bronze sculpture of Spirit Rising™, the monumental Minnesota Woman, her artistic rendition of what is, to date, the oldest human archaeological find in North America. ART Business News magazine shortly thereafter published an article about Marcella's sculpture inspiration for 'Spirit Rising.’ Her art likewise has been featured in several western art magazines. More re cently, her sculpture was juried into the international 'Wisdom Across the Ages' exhibition created in concert with the online ASWM, ( Association for the Study of Women & Mythology) Symposium (July 16-18, 2021) in honor of the late Dr. Marija Gimbutas.

In both 2014 and 2015, Marcella was commissioned by the National Bison Association to sculpt its Gold Trophy Award, presented to the group’s ‘Producer of the Year.’ She was a featured artist at the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum in 2013, and has participated in a variety of solo and group exhibitions around the Midwest, Northwest and Southwest. She also has been featured in numerous Upper Midwest newspaper and magazine articles and radio and television programs.

Marcella is a mentor for art students through the Lake Region Arts Council of western Minnesota. Marcella Rose is a member of the National Sculpture Society, Society of Minnesota Sculptors, Oil Painters of America, The Association for the Study of Women and Mythology, International Society of Female Professionals, American Women Artists, The Arts Partnership, MN Arts, Made in Minnesota, Fargo-Moorhead Visual Artists and Art of the Lakes. For more than there decades Marcella Rose has been represented by prestigious galleries throughout the United States.
